BIO

Alma Peguero, Dominican artist and spiritual teacher residing in Santo Domingo. Uses drawing and performance to study mathematical language concepts. She is specifically interested in ideas that illustrate principles of universal order. Such as, laws of time and space, principles of polarity, directionality, patterns, etc. Based on concepts like these, Alma designs creation systems that vary between the structured, characterized by the use of geometry tools such as the compass, the ruler, etc., and other less structured drawings in which the body becomes a means of creation. and in the material itself. A variety within these extremes is possible.

Alma's greatest point of interest is in observing how this way of creating leads her to develop actions where her aura of presence is evident, and where she can observe herself creating the experience. The reason why Alma chooses to study mathematical concepts is because in this language there are expansion formulas and evidence of an exact order, difficult to deny to nature. Alma understands that this language is one of the most valuable discoveries and cultural contributions of ancient civilizations. Her thesis is that to the extent that she adopts construction methods that emulate universal creation processes, her body and mind are reorganized within this way of functioning, and therefore her work.

Alma holds a Master's Degree in Studio Practice from the University at Buffalo, a BFA in Visual Arts from Parsons School of Design in New York, and an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts from the Altos de Chavón School of Design, RD.
