BIO
Alma Peguero is a Dominican artist and spiritual teacher based in Santo Domingo. Her work explores the intersections of drawing, performance, and the transformation of self-perception through these practices. She creates systems that oscillate between structured methods—using tools like compasses and rulers—and intuitive, embodied approaches, where the body becomes both instrument and medium.
Drawing on concepts from mathematics—such as polarity, probability, pattern, and geometry—her practice investigates how the strategic application of universal principles can sharpen perception, modulate the nervous system, and expand consciousness. At its core, her work positions mathematical language as a path to self-knowledge and transcendence.
Alma holds an MFA in Studio Practice from the University at Buffalo, a BFA from Parsons School of Design, and an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from Altos de Chavón. She has been a certified yoga teacher since 2010.
