Flaming Spirits is a title that may translate differently from culture to culture -from person to person.  From my syncretic background between Spanish Catholicism, Santeria, and non-western philosophies like yoga. I parallel the word spirit with the word soul, the word presence, and the word energy. The word flaming, I parallel to the element of fire which leads to processes of transformation. The series, made at the beginning of Covid 2020, is part of a personal process in which I reevaluate the language I use to relate to subtle nature and to what I don't know. Through the process of creation, I claim my most intimate participation, and study the properties of fire as the main element of the transformation process. The drawings and documented actions that remain, become images to honor the subtle nature that in times of high confusion guide and help to change our forms of perception inviting us to travel with determination to our inner world.
