In Dynamics of Presence, (a collective show, next to artists América Olivo and Carmen Bencosme), I showed two pieces. Liquid State and The Measure of Breath. These performance drawings are based on body actions that consist of directing and coordinating perception according to the elements of time and space. In Liquid State, I immerse myself in nature and trace lines with acrylic paint on a canvas spread on a stony ground. While in The Measure of Breath, I perform the same instructions but in a semi-public space, (Colegio Babeque), where students and people at short and long distance surround me. Both projects involve the practice of directing perception through instructions on how to mark the surface. By marking the surface I reveal a diagram that symbolizes my way of being present. In the resulting diagrams lines that extend in time and space are observed; and patterns that mark rhythms and directions, reflect my movements, my breathing,and the continuity of an internal dialogue sustained with the enviroment.
